Midday on Borsa Istanbul: BIST 100 has declined to the 9,000 threshold.
Istanbul Stock Exchange entered its second wave of decline today following yesterday's pause. The BIST 100 index dropped by 7.38% to 9,038 points during the first half of the day.
As losses in the BIST 100 reached 5%, a circuit breaker was triggered, but the downward trend continued after trading resumed. In afternoon trading, the index moved around the 9,200 level with a 6% decline. The BIST 100 saw a weekly drop of 15%, returning to levels last seen in November 2024. While banks and communication stocks declined by about 9%, sectors like construction, technology, and metal goods saw a more modest decline of around 4%. Amid ongoing political uncertainty, investors are increasingly anxious about potential developments over the weekend, leading to increased selling pressure.
