Trump is considering lifting sanctions on Turkey and reinstating fighter jet sales - FOX News.

President Donald Trump is considering lifting sanctions on Turkey and resuming the sale of fighter jets following his discussion with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to Fox News. This potential move includes the sale of F-16 fighter jets and, under certain conditions, the highly sought-after F-35 jets.

According to two sources who spoke to Fox News Digital, the conditions for the sale of F-35 jets require Turkey to establish an agreement that would neutralize the Russian S-400 system. This could involve partially dismantling the system or relocating it to a U.S.-controlled base in Turkey. Last year, Congress approved a $23 billion sale that included 40 F-16s and modernization kits for Turkey's existing fleet of 79 planes. However, negotiations between the Turkish Ministry of Defense and the jet manufacturer Lockheed Martin are still ongoing, potentially impacting the decision to lift sanctions and restart sales.
